SBI-Melville - Medical Assistant Students Educate the Community

December 18, 2013 General 0 Comments

Medical Assisting students of SBI Campus provided hygiene education to the community at The Life Enrichment Center at Oyster Bay. The event took place on December 11, 2013 with a total of 21 participants. Students set up a trifold board with information on body hygiene, handwashing and odors.

Medical Assisting student Denise Wells ended the presentation with a poem on "Bodywashing".

Poem: Bodywashing
The circle of life is crazy,
We start out as babies
With smelly dirty diaper messes,
We rely on the smells to stop our parents guesses.
We get more mature, knowledgeable, and control of our bladders,
But at a certain age none of that really matters
We are back to diapers, limited mobility, and not so great smells,
I have great news though, one I will tell.
You still have control over your personal hygiene, like brushing your teeth, washing your body and face,
Because unfortunately we also start to loose sense of smell and taste.
So, do not go by the smell of your nose,
Because what you smell is not what others smell and that explains them chasing you with a water hose.
Good hygiene is something we all appreciate.
Especially when you live together with others in a small space.
