BFA Professional Photography
Dean DePhillipo earned his BA in Industrial Photography from Brooks Institute of Photography in 1989 and his MA in Telecommunication from Texas Tech University in 2001.
Dean has been a professional photographer for more than 20 years, specializing in underwater, travel, nature and exotic culture. From Alaska to Zanzibar, he has captured still and video images in over 50 countries.
As a team leader for Passage Productions, he traveled the world producing “Live Broadcasts” from underwater to remote locations, including cruise ships around the globe. Dean’s still photographic work has appeared in numerous publications produced by The Cousteau Society, The Smithsonian, Cunard, Discover Diving Magazine, Skin Diver Magazine, NOAA and the National Marine Sanctuary Program, to name a few.
A partial list of his video credits include CNN, NBC Nightly News and the Discovery Channel; he also was the Director of Photography on The Ocean Channel’s production for the National Park Service, Restoring Balance, Santa Cruz Island. Dean has been at Brooks Institute as a full-time instructor for over 12 years, teaching classes in Lighting Theory, Video for Still Photographers, Advanced Video for Still Photographers and In-Water Class.
